Blue Sky Therapy offers workshops on various topics. We offer workshops to our local community and can customize workshops for retreat groups, corporate settings and non-profit organizations. Workshops can incorporate psychoeducation, discussion, experiential learning, trauma-sensitive yoga, creative practices and more. Call us to discuss further and we can create a workshop for you and your group.

  • Rest and Restore Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop Series

    The Rest and Restore Trauma-Sensitive Yoga workshop series incorporates mind-body practices, teachings and discussion. Each workshop offers a resourcing experience, education, Q+A with discussion and gentle yoga practice. Participants are offered accessible skills that can be used off the mat in everyday life to manage stress, anxiety and trauma responses. Supporting resources and action plans to complement workshop content are offered. This workshop is facilitated by Melissa Grisi, LCSW, Certified EMDR Therapist and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher. Melissa has experience working in both a clinical setting as a trauma therapist and a yoga teacher using mind-body practices to complement trauma healing work. All are welcome.

    Rest and Restore is a 6 part series and can be offered as a 2 hour workshop weekly. This workshop can be offered in-person or virtually.

  • Radical Self-Care: 6 week series

    This workshop integrates a trauma-informed approach to radical self-care to create a self-care practice that supports health and wellness. Each workshop offers therapeutic yoga tools (Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra), community, discussion, relaxation, experiential learning and skills-building to cultivate a deeper connection to Self. Participants learn practical skills that can be used in daily life. Participants will leave this workshop with their own unique self-care plan. All are welcome.

    Radical Self-Care is a 6 part series and offered as a 2 hour workshop weekly. This workshop can be offered in-person or virtually.

  • Rest and Reset: Self-Care for the Holidays
    The holidays are often a difficult time of year. Join us as we create ease and connection through community and healing practices. Integrating a trauma-sensitive, nervous system-informed approach, we will use yoga, breath, discussion and guided rest to create a felt sense of calm and ease. Participants will leave this workshop with practical tools to cultivate balance during the holiday season and strategies to manage stress, anxiety and trauma responses. This workshop is open to all levels and no prior yoga experience is necessary.

    Rest and Reset: Self-Care for the Holidays is a one-day, 2 hour workshop and can be offered in-person or virtually.

  • Yoga Nidra for Sleep
    Rest and restore with this powerful, healing practice. This healing practice is designed to reset the nervous system and bring peace, ease and a good night’s sleep. We begin with a short sequence of gentle shapes followed by Yoga Nidra (“Yogic Sleep”); a guided meditation which can bring deep rest and relaxation. Yoga Nidra is an evidence-based practice shown to improve sleep and reduce anxiety, stress and PTS symptoms. Research shows 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 2 hours of deep, restful sleep. All are welcome.
    Yoga Nidra for Sleep can vary in length from 45-90 minutes. This workshop can be offered in-person or virtually.

  • Yoga for Stress and Anxiety

    Yoga can be a powerful, healing tool for easing anxiety and stress. In this workshop we use various techniques to relieve stress and anxiety. Drawing from Melissa’s training, education and experience as a trauma-sensitive yoga teacher and licensed clinical social worker, we incorporate breathwork (pranayama), gentle yoga poses (asana), mindfulness, grounding techniques and creative practices into a healing practice designed to bring the nervous system back into balance. We explore the resiliency of the mind-body and capacity to “rest and restore” from daily stressors. Participants will leave this workshop with practical tools to cultivate balance in daily life. All are welcome.
    Yoga for Stress and Anxiety is a one-day, 120 minute (2 hour) workshop and can be offered in-person or virtually.

  • Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

    When we experience trauma, we become disconnected from our bodies, sensations feel intolerable and emotions unmanageable. Trauma-sensitive yoga offers the opportunity to rebuild our relationship with ourselves and reclaim our bodies. A trauma-sensitive approach helps us to reset the nervous system and reduce our “fight or flight” reaction. Drawing on current research and evidence-based practice, this workshop focuses on grounding, centering, mindfulness and healing. By offering choice, predictability and consistency with options for breath and movement, this gentle, supportive practice is suitable for all levels. ***Trauma-sensitive yoga is not a replacement for trauma treatment; if you are experiencing acute symptoms of PTSD or complex trauma, please follow-up with your healthcare provider to discuss if this class is appropriate for you at this time.

    Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is typically a 45-60 minute offering. This workshop can be offered in-person or virtually.
